Had a big weekend! On Saturday I went to an event in Antwerp called 'The Invasion' (De Invasie) and today I went to an exposition in the Antwerp Fashion Museum! But first things first... I'll explain my adventure in the museum in another post!
The Invasion is a platform for young talent, students and professionals, founded by Bert Pieters. The idea is to bring all types of designers together: fashion designers, ceramists, furniture designers, ... At the location chosen by the organisation, these designers get the opportunity to display their craft and products.
Because I recently started this Fashion Blog, I had to go and visit this expo. Here is a summary of a few things I saw and liked a lot!
Black Balloon
One of the first brands I discovered was Black Balloon, a fashion brand from Gent. They have a collection like no other I've seen before. What makes this brand stand out is their use of prints based on their vintage family images.
Next to their clothes they have an accessories line. And they do custom made clothes too for B2B.

Black Balloon is different & that's what I like! They have an amazing Black Balloon Bible, which is a lookbook and brochure all in one!

Modest Men
Another genuine brand that caught my eye was Modest Men. At first I was interested just because of the designs of the shirts. After she (Geraldine) explained me the philosophy of her collection, I was even more interested. Because I AM one of those guys she referred to: someone who either is to short or to big to fit in standard sizes. She has responded to the non-conformism and created a brand that makes shirts for all types of men.
Her prints are based on her personal outlook on things. For example the next print, which was based on a picture of a city skyline. She interprets things in her own way and gives the shirts A TWIST!

Cracks'n shapes
Complex but worth sharing items, are these wooden rings by Mirthe Martens. She made them for a school project and got selected to present and sell her talent at the Expo this weekend.
These rings are made from a big wooden bar and stuffed with a metal filling, creating an amazing look!

So these are my favourite items spotted at 'The Invasion'. Hope you like it!
